2015 Role Model Visits

2014 Paleo Delta

2014 teacher leader, Jason Tovani, in collaboration with Florida Museum STEM content specialist Sean Moran, design and implement a year-long paleontology class at Delta Highschool.

2014 NSTA Long Beach

NGSS Coach Rob Hoffman, science teacher Jill Madden, and Florida Museum STEM content specialist Sean Moran presented at NSTA Long Beach on partnerships between Santa Cruz county schools and the University of Florida.

2014 ITEST Proposal

Dr. Pasha Antonenko, UF College of Education and Dr. Bruce MacFadden, Florida Museum of Natural History submitted an NSF proposal to provide 3D scanning and printing technology in K12. Several pilot activities were developed with teachers (who have been to Panama with us) and students in order to assess proposal needs and strategy. READ MORE.

2014 GABI RET

NSF Funded GABI RET recruits 10 teachers, has the orientation session in Santa Cruz CA, and the International Component in Panama. PRESS RELEASE.

2014 Teachers Collaboration with the University of Florida Libraries

NGSS Coach Rob Hoffman, teacher Jill Madden and GABI RET project coordinator Claudia Grant collaborate with the University of Florida Libraries in a project that consisted of creating 6 science lessons and 2 professional development components using the Panama Canal Stereographs UF had recently acquired. The lessons are about science and how the construction of the canal has contributed to scientific discoveries.

2013-2014 Pilot Project to integrate 3D scanning and printing technology in the classroom

NGSS Coach Rob Hoffman, Integrated science teacher Jason Tovani and GABI RET Project Coordinator Claudia Grant with the help of teachers from cohort 2 have brainstormed ideas and analyzed classroom logistics to introduce 3D technology in the classroom. The result is an ITEST proposal that will be submitted in late October of 2014.

2014 Role Model Classroom visit

PhD Biology student, Catalina Pimiento, visits multiple schools and classrooms in Santa Cruz, CA. She was also the keynote speaker for a Middle School museum activity opening.
