Trip to Panama

July 20 – July 31

*Teachers will do field work with scientists, brainstorm on lessons and discuss scientific articles about GABI, NGSS, and STEM education (on a daily basis).
**This is a tentative agenda and it is subject to change

Recommended Items to Bring and Tips

-Sunblock
-Field or hiking boots
-Hand sanitizer
-Mosquito Repellent
-Hat
-Backpack
-Water bottle to refill (insulated is better to keep your water cold)
-Rain poncho
-Umbrella
-Zip lock bags to protect cell phones, camera, passport, etc… from the rain.
-Granola or Cereal bars
-Cash in small bills ($1, $5, $10 – to divide up the check during the evening dinners. In Panama, restaurants DO NOT split checks as easily as in the U.S. There is also an ATM near the hotel in case you need extra cash. The exchange rate is US$1= Balboa$1)
-A basic buffet breakfast is included. We usually meet for breakfast and discuss the plan for the day.
-We will pack for lunches everyday. There is a convenience store across the street from the hotel where items such as sandwiches, fruit, snacks and drinks can be purchased.
-We meet for dinner at a restaurant every day.
