Four teachers from California, two from New Mexico, four from Florida, assistant superintendent from California, paleontologists and project coordinator have arrived to Panama. An Intense, yet exciting agenda is ahead of us.

July 14th – July 25th, 2014

2 days for travel + 10 days for activities

DAY 1: 7/14

Participants arrive by this date
Staying at Country Inn, located in El Dorado Blvd. (This place is home for us!)

DAY 2: 7/15

8:15 AM Field Work: Lago Alajuela
3:00 PM Transportation to STRI-TUPPER
4:00 PM Tupper Seminar. Why there are so many kinds of tropical trees? A historical perspective

*Pool-side chats are daily discussions, by the pool, about the activities of the day and the logistics and plans for the next day. Great place for brainstorming new ideas or for reflections.

DAY 3: 7/16

9:00 – 1:00 AM Field Work and Fossil Collection: Gatun Formation (for teachers to collect). The fossils collected on this day will be registered at STRI (check on collecting permits) and then mailed to the Florida Museum of Natural History. Once they arrive in Florida, they will take over to each of the teacher who collected them.

4:00 PM CTPA Paleo Talk. “A half-century of discovering Miocene vertebrates from Lake Alahuela: Past, present, and future” by Bruce MacFadden
